There
was a crow that lived in a forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. One day
it saw a swan. It thought, "This swan is so white and I am so black. This
swan must be the happiest bird in the world."
It expressed its thoughts to the swan. The swan replied, "Actually, I was feeling that I was the happiest bird until I saw the parrot, which has two colours. I now think that the parrot is the happiest bird in the creation."
The crow then went and expressed its thoughts to the parrot. The parrot explained, "I lived a happy life until I saw a peacock. I have just two colours, but the peacock has multiple colours."
The crow then went to see the peacock but could see it in the zoo and saw that a lot of people were gathered around to see it.
The crow approached the peacock and said, "Dear peacock, you are so beautiful. Every day a lot of people come to see you. When people see me, they just shoo me away. Therefore, I think you are the happiest bird on the planet."
The peacock replied, "I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happy bird on the planet. But because of my beauty, I am entrapped in this zoo. I have carefully examined the zoo and I have realized that the crow is the only bird not kept in the cage. So for the past several days, I have been thinking of being a crow so I could happily roam around everywhere."
That is our problem too. We make unnecessary comparisons with others and become disappointed. We do not value what God has given us. This leads to a vicious cycle of unhappiness. Let's lead a life by valuing the things God has given us. Let's learn the secret of being happy and stop comparing, which leads only to unhappiness.
